ABSTRACT
Althoughitisconsideredtobeabenigncondition,previousstudieshaveshownthatasubsetofpatientswithmitralvalveprolapse(MVP)maybeatriskofventriculararrhythmiaandsuddencardiacdeath(SCD).PreviousstudieshavesuggestedthattheintervalbetweenthepeakandtheendoftheTwave(Tp–e)canbeusedasamarkerforthetransmuraldispersionofrepolarization.
IncreasedTp–eintervalandTp–e/QTratioareassociatedwithventriculararrhythmiasandSCD.TheaimofthisstudywastoassessalterationsinventricularrepolarizationbyusingtheTp–eintervalandTp–e/QTratioinchildren
withMVPandtoinvestigatetheirrelationshipswiththedegreeofvalvularregurgitation.ThisstudyprospectivelyinvestigatedchildrenwithMVPandage-andSexmatchedhealthycontrolsubjects.Tp–einterval,Tp–e/QT
